Introduction:
Muharram is the first month of the Islamic year and marks the starting of the Islamic year And it has a lot of importance in Islam. This month is very sacred in Islam and it is one of the four months in which war is also prohibited. The teachings of the Quran and Hadith indicate the sanctity of this month, making it the most sacred of all 12 months. Therefore Muharram holiday dates have been set for July 5 and 6, 2025 in Pakistan.

When is Muharram starting?
Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar and the most sacred of the 12 months. And Its sanctity has been highly emphasized in the Holy Quran and Hadith and its respect has been emphasized.. According to the Tradition Halal Committee, June 26 is the first day of Muharram. And July 6 will be the Day of Ashura (10th of Muharram).
Important dates of Muharram:
1st Muharram:
The 1st of Muharram is the day of the martyrdom of Hazrat Umar, the first Caliph. Hazrat Umar, who sacrificed everything for Islam and was honored by Allah and ruled over half the world. The Messenger of Allah, Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him), said: “The chain of prophethood has ended with me, and if there were a prophet after me, it would have been Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).
Their bravery is unparalleled. On the 1st of Muharram, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was praying in the mosque when someone attacked him from behind. Due to this attack, Hazrat Umar (RA) was seriously injured and eventually martyred.

10th Muharram Day of Ashura:
10th Muharram is the day of Ashura in which martyred of Imam Hussain took place In Karbala. On 10th Muharram, Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) was martyred in the battlefield of Karbala. Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that Hazrat Imam Hussain is among the princes of Paradise.
On the other hand, the 10th of Muharram is also sacred because Pharaoh was destroyed by Allah Almighty on that day. And Allah Almighty granted victory to Hazrat Musa (AS).Along with this, Islam recommends fasting on the 9th, 10th, and 11th of Muharram.
Importance of Muharram:
Muharram has great importance in Islam as it is one of the four holy months according to the teachings of the Quran. And many historical events of Islam took place in this month. On the other hand in this month, Muslims migrated from Mecca to Medina. In the same month, Hazrat Imam Hussain and his family were martyred on the battlefield of Karbala. And in this month, Islam encourages Muslims to worship a lot and please Allah.
