Abhishek Sharma’s Record-breaking Achievement
Abhishek Sharma has created new history in the ICC T20I rankings with a record-breaking 931 points. He has now surpassed England’s David Mullen’s record of 919 rating points, which he set in 2020. Abhishek Sharma has now achieved this feat thanks to his stellar performance in the Asia Cup 2025 and has broken David Malan’s five-year record.
He batted brilliantly throughout the Asia Cup and scored a half-century in the match against Sri Lanka, which helped him earn these rating points. Sharma’s rise in the rankings reflects his dominance in international cricket T20 cricket.
Abhishek made his debut in international cricket last year and has performed consistently well since then. He scored a total of 314 runs at an average of 44.85 in the Asia Cup 2025.
He batted aggressively throughout the Asia Cup with a 200-plus strike rate and also won the Asia Cup Player of the Tournament award. Abhishek has now also held the record for the highest run-scorer in the Asia Cup edition, scoring 314 runs as a top-order batsman.
Abhishek also surpassed his fellow Indian players Suryakumar Yadav (912 points) and Virat Kohli (909 points) to reach the top of the T20 rankings with 931 points.

Salt is Second in the Rankings and Tilak Verma is third
England’s Phil Salt is second in the rankings behind India’s Abhishek, who is 82 points behind. And along with this, India’s Tilak Verma has maintained his third position by scoring 213 runs in the Asia Cup, performing brilliantly.
Many other players’ ratings have also improved due to their performances in the Asia Cup 2025. Sri Lankan batsman Nissanka has achieved a career-best ranking by scoring 261 runs in the Asia Cup. He has moved up to fifth position after his excellent performance in the Asia Cup and scoring a century in the match against India.
Along with this, Pakistan’s top-order batsman Sahibzada Farhan has improved 11 places due to his outstanding performance in the Asia Cup and is now in thirteenth place.
Varun retained the top position in the latest ICC T20 bowling rankings

India’s Varun Chakaravarthy continues to maintain his lead with his number one position in bowling. He performed well in the Asia Cup 2025, taking 7 wickets and maintaining his number one position.
Along with this, India’s second spin bowler Kuldeep Yadav has improved nine places to 12th position, which is due to his excellent performance in the Asia Cup.
Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi took 9 wickets in the Asia Cup 2025 and his performances have helped him move up 12 places to 13th position. Apart from this, Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain has also improved by six places and is at 20th place.
Saim Ayub snatched Hardik Pandya’s place

The ICC All-Rounder Rankings have also seen a huge change. Pakistan’s Saim Ayub was already fantastic with the bat and in the Asia Cup 2025, he also performed brilliantly with the bowling, taking 8 wickets and is at the top of the all-rounder list.
He snatched this position from Hardik Pandya and now Pandya is in second place. Saim Ayub has achieved first position in the ICC all-rounder rankings, improving by four places. In addition, Pakistan’s Muhammad Nawaz has also improved his position by four places to reach thirteenth place.
