
Introduction:
The last underpass at Pragati Maidan was approved by the Public Works Department on July 7, 2025. After approval is received, Integrated Transit is completely ready to work on the final underpass Pragati maidan. This is the fifth and final underpass that will connect Bhairon Murg to the Ring Road. Now it is awaiting approval from the central government, after which work on the project will begin after the monsoon. The corridor is nearing completion and this is its final and fifth underpass that remains to be worked on. The Public Works Department is trying to complete it after the monsoon but waiting for approval.
Statement of PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh:
PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said that he has thoroughly reviewed the technical works and submitted a proposal to the central government for approval to start work. We are waiting for the approval of the central government, after which we will start work soon. Work on the fifth underpass is necessary to reduce traffic congestion around Pargati Maidan. We are committed to working on this underpass and work will start as soon as final approval is received from central government .

When last underpass of Pragati Maidan be completed?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi originate the Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor in 2022 to reduce traffic congestion around it. It is from Ring Road to Bhairon Murg to reduce traffic congestion on these roads and provide easy access to the Pragati Exhibition Complex. It consisted of a tunnel and 6 underpasses, five of which have been completed, but this fifth underpass has not yet been completed.
This underpass was 110 meters long, of which 28 meters are pending, the rest have been completed by PWD before monsoon. The Public Works Department is committed to completing this project as soon as possible after receiving approval from the central government.

The Last underass of Pragati Maidan consists of two roadways.
- The two-lane roadway carrying traffic from Ring Road to Bhairon Murg has been completed.
- The second three-lane box, which carries traffic from Bhairan Marg to the Ring Road, is not yet completed.

Obstacles in the Pragati Maidan corridor:
Construction work was halted by central government in 2023 due to flooding in the Yamuna River. The sensitivity and engineering difficulties of working under railway lines have delayed its completion. PWD Minister Parvaish Sahib Singh has said that after consulting IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay and CBRI, we have found a new way to complete it. Which will not damage the railway track and will also protect it from ground hazards.
Conclusion:
The Public Works Department has proposed to the central government to work on the last underpass of Pargati Maidan. The central government is considering the proposal submitted by the PWD. But the final approval for start working has not been given by the central government yet. PWD Minister Pervez Sahib Singh has said that we are waiting for final approval from the government. And we are committed to working on its final underpass.
